It was not possible for all of us to follow closely the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the Province of Campo Grande, Brazil. The event was celebrated the last October 12th 2014. It is for this reason we want to offer as a gift the internet version of the magazine that celebrated this important date.
The magazine with the name “Horizon of Hope and Mission,” shows in 32 pages the history of the province, or rather, as Fr. Gelson Luiz Mikuszka, C.Ss.R said:
The history of the unit of Campo Grande began on the23rd November 1929, when two North American Redemptorist missionaries set out from New York for Aquidauana, in the marshy area of the Mato Grosso. The long sea voyage to Brazil, and the taxing train journey to Aquidauana, shows us the determination and missionary spirit that drove Fathers Francis Mohr and Alfonso Hild to begin a new Mission in unfamiliar lands. At the end of January 1930, after difficulties, deep thought and much courage, they had taken the first steps in Evangelization. And on the 12th of October 1989, these first steps were fulfilled when the region was raised to the “Province of Campo Grande”.
The issues in the magazine are: the origin, the letter of the Superior General, the words of the Provincial Superior, history, parishes and shrines, the mission today, training, moral theology, the Redemptorist youth, social action, popular religion and prospects for the future.
The photos and graphics illustrate the whole events of its history. A gift that will remain as a Redemptorist testimony in the digital world for ever.
“We want to make a triumphant cry in this missionary challenge … we wish to thank God for the missionary graces that He gave us” (from the presentation of the magazine)
