From Wednesday evening to Sunday morning we met in Astorga (León. Spagna) around the theme, “Towards Easter”. We were about 52 people belonging to different groups of lay Redemptorists and married couples from the parishes of Our Perpetual Help and the Most Holy Redeemer, Madrid. The Redemptorist community of Astorga joined with us in this experience.
In the spirit of living a missionary Easter we developed our personal and community reflections about daily questions whilst giving a warm welcome to the Christian pilgrims of the “Camino de Santiago”. They came from all over the world, leaving their homes to live the experience of pilgrimage, often alone.
On Saturday, we also wished to become pilgrims and so we walked from Astorga to Castrillo de los Polvazares, a very nice village, where we shared our reflections about the walk and a moment of prayer.
Much of our prayer together was inspired by the spirituality of St. Teresa of Jesus, on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of her birth. This Easter experience was also marked by the particpipation of the youth and for us as parents it was a joy to see the faith of our young people and to live these meetings in the spirit of the family.
The meeting ended on Saturday night with the celebration of the Easter Vigil. We returned to our home with a deep feeling in our heart of the Risen Christ, well-disposed to walk with him and to witness to his redemption.
