The second paper of the last day of the Congress, “The Church’s contribution to social justice in the African perspective: a response to evil and suffering of a continent” was prepared by Fr. Kokouvi Paul Zikpi OFM (Togo). But he was unable to attend the Congress and the paper was presented by Fr. Aristide Gnada CSsR (Burkina Faso), professor of Alphonsian Academy. The text has primarily highlighted the difficulty of producing a comprehensive definition of social justice, also referring to the documents of the papal Magisterium (Populorum Progressio, Octogesima adveniens) and some Episcopal Conferences (Latin-American – LAMEC, Africa and Madagascar – SECAM ). The author has shown what can be the positive contribution that the Church can offer to promote justice, in particular the need to promptly identify the reasons of injustice and conflict in order to defuse them before they explode, working with all the faithful and all people of good will.
At the conclusion of the conference Fr. Andrzej Wodka CSsR (Poland) President of the Alphonisan Academy, drew an accurate summary of the work of the congress and Fr. Rogerio Gomes CSsR(Brazil), the coordinator of organizing the Congress thanked all those who have contributed to the success of the event.
Fr. Enrique Lopez CSsR (Paraguay), vicar general of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer on behalf of the General Government has officially closed the proceedings, confirming the commitment to increase the study of moral theology in close contact with the lived experience of the people of God. He also thanked the province of Sao Paulo for the support and the initiative. In response to the words of thanks by Fr. Enrique, the provincial superior of Sao Paulo, Fr.
