According to the Archdiocese of Belo Horizonte, more than 50,000 Catholics attended the “Torcida de Deus” last Sunday, May 31st in the Mineirão Stadium, which organised this event.
The program included musical and cultural performances and the celebration of the Eucharist with a procession of the Blessed Sacrament.
The faithful were greeted with a cultural moment, then at 15.30, there were very famous singers. Father Geraldo de Paula Souza, from the National Shrine of Aparecida, presided at the Mass, during which the pilgrim image of Our Lady of Aparecida was enthroned. Located in a place of honour the image was crowned by the Archbishop Walmor. The celebration of the Mass was concelebrated by the Archbishop, Auxiliary Bishops and priests of the whole Archdiocese.
During the Mass there were three dance presentations: 120 students from the College of Santa Maria of the Archdiocese of BH represented the penitential rite; 160 students from the College of St. Augustine, the rite of the earth’s benediction, while the 130 students from the College of Father Eustaquio presented a dance inspired by the Year of Peace proclaimed by the CNBB for 2015.
