The Denver Province Jubilee Year of Our Mother of Perpetual Help officially began on Sunday, April 26, 2015. Two special events are planned during this time: Br. Dan Korn will provide a presentation on the spirituality of the icon at the 27th annual Seelos Healing Mass in New Orleans; and a special icon written by a Polish Redemptorist specifically for the Jubilee Year will  be presented to the Redemptoristine community in Liguori.

Br. Dan Korn will share the spirituality of the icon with the hundreds of people expected to attend the Seelos Healing Mass in New Orleans. Fr. Byron Miller, executive director of the National Shrine of Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos and Vice Postulator for the Seelos Canonization Cause, is offering cards featuring the Perpetual Help image to everyone who participates in the Seelos Healing Mass.

“We are grateful to Br. Dan for helping to spread devotion to Our Mother of Perpetual Help by sharing his knowledge,” Fr. Byron said. “We hope that his presentation will increase the devotion of the faithful.”

When the special Icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help commissioned for the Jubilee Year arrived at Liguori Mission House last week, Superior Vic Karls placed it in the chapel and led the community  and a few guests from St. Clement Health Care Center in prayer. Fr. Pete Schavitz assisted with the prayers and the finale, Salve Regina. This Sunday, confreres will carry the icon in  a procession to the Redemptoristine monastery, where it will be venerated until the Denver Province Jubilee Celebration at St. Alphonsus “Rock” Church in St. Louis on Monday, June 27, 2016.

Special Jubilee Year posters have been mailed to Redemptorist communities. The OMPH Jubilee Committee is asking confreres to prominently display them and communicate the start of this significant year in honor of Our Mother of Perpetual Help.
