Last Monday 29th, 2015, 100 young Redemptorist missionaries arrived at the Retreat House “Seminary da Floresta”, in the Province of Rio, in Juiz de Fora (Brazil). They belong to the States of Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, and Espirito Santo.
Fr. Bruno Alves Coelho, C.Ss.R., led the meeting that lasted up to May 31st. Fr. Alves Coelho is the vocational promoter of the Province and he talked to the youth about the evangelization. Fr. Américo de Oliveira, Fr. Flavio Leonardo and some seminarians of St. Clement and St. Alphonsus Community took also part to the meeting. The reporter Brenda Melo, member of the National Commission of Redemptorist Youth, made a presentation about the Commission proposal for JUMIRE (Juventude Missionária Redentorista).
As reported by Father Américo de Oliveira, C.Ss.R., the aim is to strengthen the relationship with the youth: “The Province of Rio has established a very nice path of opening and collaboration with the youth. We wish to consolidate this experience. As result of this meeting, a coordination group of JUMIRE at provincial level was made up. It has been formed by young representatives of different units and by Redemptorists who work with the youth”, he concluded.
