London: Young Adult Group

Towards end of 2014 I started a Young Adult Group in our Redemptorist parish of St Mary’s, Clapham in London!

So now RYM is based in 3 cities – Liverpool, Birmingham and London! After just 2 years we have developed the ministry nicely and there is undoubtedly a great need for young people to come together to share, learn about and discuss their faith!

To begin 2015, we had a beautiful celebration of Mass for Blessings in the Fisher-More Hall! Over 32 young adults from across Liverpool attended the Mass which was celebrated by our very own Fr Richard Reid CSsR and concelebrated by Fr Dominic Curran and Fr Simon Gore (ANIMATE Youth Ministries)!

It was a perfect way to come together as a young community of faith to ask The Lord for blessings and graces to sustain our journey in this new year!

We had lovely Music Ministry team on the evening and the prayerfulness on these occasions defies belief!

As I write this review – I’m off on train to London to attend a similar Mass for Blessings in Clapham for young adults which I’ve organised! Let’s hope it’s a wonderful occasion for this new group!

In February over 20 young adults from RYM across the cities will attend our Kinnoull Monastery for the Lenten Retreat Weekend called ‘Believe’!

And we will also attend the Living Joyfully day at Liverpool Met Cathedral to celebrate the Year of Consecrated Life!

Then in March, over 50 of us will attend the eagerly awaited FLAME 2 Youth Congress at Wembley Arena where 10,000 young people will gather to celebrate our faith! Cardinal Luis Tagle from the Phillipines who recently welcomed Pope Francis to his country will address us, as will Baroness Hollins and Fr Timothy Radcliffe! Music will be provided by the legendary Matt Redman!

In June we will also have WHOLLY HOLY 2 at Hawkstone Hall – a day for Young Adults – with speakers, workshops, Praise and Worship music, Adoration and Mass!

So I’m sure you’ll agree – the first part of 2015 for RYM looks packed with great events designed to foster and inspire our young people in their faith! Fortnightly meetings of Young Adult Groups are augmented by these special events!

Please continue to pray for our young people especially those associated with RYM – and let’s hope God continues to shower us with the wonderful blessings he is doing so with this ministry!

God bless, Paul Murphy
