Il redentorista Kevin Dowling e la Missione di Tapologo

Kevin Dowling è nato a Pretoria nel 1944 ed è stato ordinato Sacerdote per la Congregazione del Santissimo Redentore il 9 luglio del 1967. E’ Vescovo di Rustenberg nella Provincia nord occidentale del Sud Africa dal dicembre del 1990.

Il Vescovo Dowling è stato un autorevole avvocato di difesa dei diritti umani ed è stata una figura importante per il movimento anti apartheid. Coinvolto in varie attività comunitarie nella maggiore area di Rustenberg, si era reso conto che il tasso da infezione da HIV ed il numero di persone malate di AIDS stava raggiungendo proporzioni pandemiche all’interno della Regione e le risorse disponibili per trattare gli effetti della malattia erano limitati se non inesistenti. Le risorse esistenti non venivano efficacemente coordinate. Per questo è nato il Programma Tapologo. Il termine, in lingua setswana, “Tapologo”, che indicava il tema di “pace e riposo”, è quello che meglio esprime la Missione di Tapologo che è la risposta che guida questa comunità, basata sulla Fede, centrata sul Programma HIV/AIDS.

Tapologo-Team

Il valore di base di Tapologo deriva da una prospettiva fondamentalmente cristiana, ma include quei valori umani e culturali essenziali che sono al centro delle relazioni per dare la vita. La Missione includerà sempre ogni persona all’interno della Comunità, ma si concentrerà particolarmente sui più poveri e sui più vulnerabili della società.

Tra i valori al centro della Missione di Tapologo c’è la riverenza per la singola persona umana, un profondo rispetto per il suo viaggio e la sua storia senza indagare su cosa sia accaduto nella sua vita, ed una conseguente attitudine a non giudicare, portata a livello di una accettazione riverente della suddetta persona unicamente come essere umano. Ciò a sua volta incentiverà tutti gli altri valori della compassione, della cura, del sostegno, della solidarietà e della condivisione, con coloro che sperimentano una qualsiasi forma di sofferenza, emarginazione, isolamento e solitudine come essere umano, ed in particolare fra coloro che sono infettati o malati di HIV/AIDS.

Ciò abbraccia tutti gli aspetti dei rapporti comunitari e dell’interazione, così che le persone possano incontrarsi fra di loro, come semplici esseri umani che stanno condividendo il viaggio verso una migliore qualità di vita, che dovrebbe rivelare la dignità appartenente a ciascuna persona.

Ma il punto di inizio sarà sempre la grande capacità per le persone di riconoscere i loro doni e le loro risorse interiori, le loro motivazioni ed aspirazioni, per creare un mondo migliore semplicemente attraverso le relazioni che infondono lo spirito d’amore, la cura, la compassione e la solidarietà.
