Gamo Diana School bid farewell to Magnus Kramer, a young volunteer from the Redemptorist Community of Bonn, Germany, after eleven months of service and living within our educational community. His departure marks the successful conclusion of the first international Redemptorist volunteer program at our school, a project that strengthens collaboration among Redemptorist schools across Europe.
Magnus’s presence has been made possible thanks to the Redemptorist Volunteer Ministries (RVM) program, an initiative of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer in Germany that offers young people the opportunity to live an experience of service, human growth and Christian formation in an international context.
This experience is the result of a long-standing collaboration between Colegio Gamo Diana, Collegium Josephinum, and the Redemptorist Community of Bonn, built over the past few years through European projects, international gatherings of Redemptorist schools, and various educational and pastoral initiatives. The arrival of this first volunteer marks a further step in this shared mission.
At just 19 years old, Magnus left his country to fully integrate into school life. During this time, he has collaborated in library activities, school breakfasts, supervising Early Years students, recess, and numerous educational and festive activities, in addition to participating in German conversation classes with our students, fostering a valuable cultural exchange.
His volunteering has also had an important pastoral dimension in our parish of San Gerardo, where he has been integrated into the youth group, accompanying the teenagers of the Alces stage and collaborating in the Semillas solidarity project, making the spirit of service inherent to the Redemptorist charism a reality.
But beyond all the tasks he has accomplished, Magnus has gifted us with his warmth, his joy, and his ability to forge connections. He has become a true member of the Gamo Diana family and the Redemptorist community, leaving an indelible mark on students, teachers, families, and educators.
When he arrived in Madrid, he barely spoke Spanish; today he returns to Germany fluent in our language and carrying with him countless experiences and friendships. We are privileged to have shared a year of service, learning, and mutual growth with him.
From Gamo Diana School we thank Magnus for his dedication and generosity, as well as the Redemptorist Community of Bonn, the Redemptorist Volunteer Ministries (RVM) program, the Parish of Saint Gerard and the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer for making this first experience possible, which we trust will continue in the coming years.
