Planning and proper execution are essential to make any event a success. With this in mind the Liguori Province had a mission assembly on November 12, 2014 at Liguori Bhavan, Mattoor, to plan for the great jubilee of the Mother of Perpetual Help. It is really worth mentioning that a good number of confreres from all the communities attended the assembly.
Fr. Jaiju Kooran, the Secretary of the Secretariat of Apostolate, welcomed all to the assembly and he led us into prayer. Rev. Fr. Joy Poonoly, our provincial superior, in his inaugural address, emphasized the need to sit together and plan for the jubilee. He also urged all to contribute their share to make this jubilee celebration a great event in the province and popularize the devotion to our Mother of Perpetual Help. Fr. Baby Verananickal, the Contact Person for the Jubilee Celebrations, briefed to the assembly the plans of the General Government and the Asia-Oceania Conference for the Jubilee Celebration and the possible ways the Liguori Province could celebrate this jubilee. The Mission Assembly focused its attention mainly on suggestions pertaining to the apostolate. To name a few, preaching 150 special missions to mark the occasion and making use of the retreats to priests and religious and the youth ministry to spread the devotion to Our Mother of Perpetual Help. The creative suggestions surfaced during the discussions and the active participation of all indicate that the entire province is eagerly waiting to make this jubilee celebration a mega event in the province.
The mission assembly also evaluated our apostolic activities especially the youth apostolate. All appreciated the hard work of the young fathers who are engaged in the youth ministry. Confreres shared their concerns and made significant suggestions to make the youth apostolate more vibrant.
