Meeting of the Provincial Councils of Lisbon and Madrid

Like every year around this time, the Provincial Councils met, this time in Lagos. Between the hot sun and the sea on the horizon, we shared our apostolic life, the present reality and the paths of the future.

We felt the importance of our history and our present discernment for indicating paths into the future. These are the times of the Spirit! The Spirit moves us again to a new missionary dynamism, open to Europe and committed to the Gospel and the poor, now.

It is always possible to work in a different manner, with a new, apostolic method, allowing the Spirit to renew every person, every community, every Unit. Thus we talked, prayed and lived together. For health reasons Fr. Fausto did not participate as well as Fr. Laureano who was in Tirana preparing to form a new international community.

We want to highlight the message that Fr. General sent, by electronic post, at the time of our meeting to greet us, to call us to communion and to a future of missionary hope. This presence of his brought us joy, feeling ourselves united as a Congregation. The welcome of the lay people who made us feel at home and who served us at table, on behalf of communion with the Redemptorists, also made us feel very happy, along with the presence of the Redemptorist community in Lagos. Thank you.

We met from June 10-12, invoking the blessings of Saint Anthony, patron of our Province, for our Units and the entire Congregation. How good it is for brothers live as one.
