Fr. Michael Mason CSsR awarded the Archbishop Adrian Doyle Award


During the recent conference dinner, Michael Mason CSsR was awarded the Archbishop Adrian Doyle Award for Pastoral Research, for recognition of his outstanding contribution to pastoral research in Australia. In attendance to present the award was re- tired Archbishop of Hobart Adrian Doyle, the first chair of the Board of Management for the Pastoral Research Projects (the predecessor of the Australian Catholic Council for Pastoral Research) and himself a strong supporter of pastoral research in the Church.

Dr. Mason, a Redemptorist priest, has been a pioneer in pastoral research for the Catholic Church in Australia ever since he returned to Australia in the mid-1970s after completing a Master’s degree in theology at Union Theological Seminary in New York and a PhD in sociology at Columbia University in New York.
