Bolivia and Peru: on the path to one Unit

A special greeting to the entire Redemptorist family. From this milieu, we want to share the path that the Commissions for Restructuring and Reconfiguration of the Units in Bolivia, Southern Peru, and Northern Peru are following. We want to make our own the path proposed by Pope Francis in his last encyclical: … we “assume” the culture of dialogue as a path; common collaboration as conduct; reciprocal knowledge as method and criterion. FT 285.

The pandemic has not stopped us; so far this year (2020), we have held several meetings of the Commissions in Bolivia and Peru, where we are working on the process of Restructuring and Reconfiguration.

From March 2 to 6, we had the 2nd face-to-face meeting in Lima. Then on August 26th, there was a virtual retreat where Fr. Rogério Gomes C.Ss.R. helped us to reflect on the icon of the Samaritan woman; and from August to December, we have met once a month. Thank God we have been faithful to these meetings.

In these meetings, we have coordinated, planned, and elaborated several strategies that will help us in the process of restructuring. We have already made progress on draft statutes, directory of economy, joint actions in the formation have been planned, the commission of spirituality has published a prayer for unity…and other actions.

God willing, in the next virtual Assembly from January 11 to 15, 2021, where all the congregants of the three Units will participate, we will socialize the drafts of the advanced projects so that all the brothers will contribute with their suggestions, and together we will advance.

Among joys, joys, fears, doubts, difficulties, we continue working, now with more enthusiasm since we have the General Government’s approval on the documents of Apostolic Plan and Project of Reconfiguration for our Conference.

May the Yes of our Mother, the Virgin of Perpetual Help, continue to animate our mission and apostolate.

St. Alphonsus, Saints, Blessed, and Redemptorist Martyrs, continue to help us!

Fr. Grimaldo Garay Zapata C.Ss.R.
