The Holy Father has appointed Reverend Father Charles Duval, C.Ss.R., as Coadjutor Archbishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Grouard-McLennan, Canada, until now parish priest of Saint Joseph in Grande Prairie.

Father Charles Duval, CSsR , a member of the Province of Canada, was born on April 12, 1964 in Hull, Quebec, Canada. He entered the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer on August 18, 1985, and professed solemn vows on July 29, 1989. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Theology from the Université Laval in Quebec. His priestly ordination took place on June 12, 1993, in the church of Notre-Dame-du-Perpétuel-Secours in Sherbrooke.
He has held the following positions: Parish Vicar of Notre-Dame-of-Perpétual Help in Hamilton, Ontario (1993-1998); Director of the Redemptorist Mission at Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures in Quebec (1998-2000); Pastoral Animator of the South Central District School Board in Toronto (2000-2002); Vocation Director for the Redemptorists (2002-2008); Parish Priest of Marie-Étoile-de-la-Mer in the Diocese of Bathurst in Canada (2008-2011); Vice-Rector of the Shrine of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré (2011-2015) and Provincial Superior of the Province of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré (2015-2019); Provincial Superior of the Province of Canada (2019-2023); since 2023, Parish Priest of Saint Joseph in Grande Prairie AB, Canada, as well as rector of the local Redemptorist community.
