At their meeting in late 2024, the COREAM Redemptorist youth and vocation ministry animators agreed to have two modes of celebrating the jubilee year, namely the online phase and the physical presence in Ibadan, Nigeria. The online phase began on the feast of Peter Donders this year. Last night, June 27th, 2025, the feast of our Mother of Perpetual Help, the final event of the online phase was held.

Fr. Sylvain Tarpilga, from the Vice Province of Afrique De L’ouest, led the reflection on the theme “the Magnificat as an embodiment of the Jubilee.” Drawing from his background of Moral theology, Fr. Sylvain engaged the youths on the topic in which he presented the entirety of the life of Our Lady as a song of praise and hope in which the poor of the Lord  is assured of the God’s mercy. By humbling the proud and raising the lowly he paves a path for a future for the poor. The talk, which lasted for about 45 minutes, was well received  with intelligent and insightful questions from the youths. With the help of the interpreter, Fr. Pascal Tiendrebeogo, the language gap between the Anglophone and Francophone was bridged.

Youths and Redemptorist animators from the different parts of Africa participated in this action of grace and were richly blessed by it.

The final part of the COREAM RYVM Jubilee Year celebration will hold in Ibadan, Nigeria from July 30th – August 4th, 2025. It will be the first time that the Redemptorist youths in Africa will come together as a conference.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the conference co-ordinator, Fr. Noel Sottima, for the support the COREAM has been reaching since the start. We look forward with hope to the grand finale in Ibadan.
