The Unification Gathering from 2nd to 6th of June in Mexico City was a great opportunity to meet other confreres who will form the new province uniting the United States and Mexico.

Participants from the United States stayed at the Hotel Bristol and walked to the Provincial House for meetings, prayer, Mass and the evening meal. Everyone gathered at the Bristol Hotel for breakfast and lunch, which was served at 2:00 pm, as is the custom in Mexico.

We had an opportunity to listen to a presentation about each Unit that will form the new province and the Extra Patriam, which will be a vice-province of the new entity.

The talks focused on our common identity that unites us as Redemptorists and the unique characteristics of each Unit when it comes to ministry and communal life. There were enough bilingual men translating between English and Spanish to make the small group discussions understandable to everyone.

We also had an opportunity to celebrate Mass at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The gathering was a great way to get to know one another and see new possibilities for the sake of the mission through our restructuring process.
