Published Communicanda 2/2025
The Redemptorist Family is invited to embark on a new journey of faith and hope through Communicanda 2, titled “Let us cross over to the other side: Missionaries of Hope in Today’s World.” Signed by Fr. Rogério Gomes, C.Ss.R., Superior General, and Fr. Christian Bueno, C.Ss.R., Executive Secretary of the General Secretariat for Evangelisation, this document was published on October 1, 2025. Inspired by the words of Jesus in Mark 4:35, it encourages us to place our whole trust in the Lord as we face the challenges of our time.
In this publication, following the introduction that recalls the core message of the XXVI General Chapter, nine points of reflection are presented to help live a renewed Redemptorist commitment. They are:
- The call to missionary conversion;
- Social and ecological conversion;
- Evangelizing in and through the digital continent;
- Going out in obedience to the mission;
- Missionaries of hope;
- Reimagining missionary dynamism and dialogue with the world;
- In creative fidelity;
- A mission shared with the laity;
- Mary, icon of missionary discipleship.
The fundamental question that each of us, as Redemptorist missionaries, and all members of the Redemptorist Family must ask and answer with complete sincerity is:
Do we, as a missionary body, want to cross over to the other side, as the Redeemer calls us?
The Communicanda is offered in the context of the celebration of the Jubilee Year of Hope, the Year dedicated to Mission, the Jubilee commemorating the 300th anniversary of the birth of St. Gerard, and the fact that we are approaching the 300th anniversary of the founding of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer.
It is a call to embrace the future with hope, as one missionary body. All Redemptorists, inspired by the apostolic spirit and inflamed with the zeal of our Founder, are called to continue the tradition handed down by our confreres while remaining attentive to the signs of the times.
