On 6 December 2025, the Holy Father Leo XIV appointed new members to the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. One of them is the Italian Redemptorist, Archbishop Prof. Alfonso Amarante, Rector Magnificus of the Pontifical Lateran University.
The Holy Father appointed the following Eminent Cardinals as members of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints: Rainer Maria Woelki, Metropolitan Archbishop of Cologne (Germany); Angelo De Donatis, Major Penitentiary; Roberto Repole, Metropolitan Archbishop of Turin and Bishop of Susa (Italy); Ángel Fernández Artime, S.D.B., Pro-Prefect of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life; Their Excellencies: Fortunato Morrone, Metropolitan Archbishop of Reggio Calabria-Bova (Italy); Alfonso Vincenzo Amarante, C.SS.R., Rector of the Pontifical Lateran University; Sławomir Oder, Bishop of Gliwice (Poland).
