One of our important missions to the poor and the most abandoned is the Pattaya Redemptorist School for the Blind, under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
The school was founded in 1986 by Fr. Raymond Brennan, C.Ss.R. and Aurora Sribuapan, a blind educator and social worker who dedicated her life to serving children with visual impairments. Officially opened on May 18, 1987, the school remains the only school for the blind in Eastern Thailand and has continued to bring education, care, and hope to children and youth with blindness for many years.
Every year on May 19, the school holds a memorial ceremony to honor Aurora, the first principal and co-founder, and Fr. Ray, whose love and dedication greatly shaped the lives of many young people with blindness.
This year, Fr. Worawut, C.Ss.R., together with the Pattaya Community, continued this meaningful tradition. Several confreres joined the celebration alongside students, school administrators, teachers, staff, and alumni. After the Mass, flowers were placed at the statues of Aurora, Fr. Ray, and Ms. Genevieve in remembrance and gratitude for their lasting contributions.
The Braille Embossing Room was also blessed during the celebration. The room features special Braille printers generously donated by Chartsiri Sophonpanich and his family, faithful supporter, and the Oblate of the Redemptorist Province of Thailand.
Through the dedication of confreres, benefactors, teachers, volunteers, and many kind-hearted people, this ministry continues to share God’s love and hope with those most in need.
