(Kerala, India) Liguori Province had a meaningful and solemn celebration of the concluding of the jubilee of the Icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help at Nitya Sahaya Bhavan, Chowara on Saturday June 25. The jubilee was officially inaugurated in the province on June 27 last year. Ever since, communities and confreres made sincere efforts at different level to celebrate the jubilee in meaningful way and to make her known better all over Kerala.
The province level celebrations of the jubilee came to a beautiful conclusion on Saturday, June 25, 2016. Nine days of special novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help was organized as part of the celebration of the jubilee. Confreres from different communities and priests from nearby parishes celebrated the Holy Qurbana (Eucharist) and novena on different days.
His Beatitude Mar George Alencherry, the Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church, was the main celebrant for the Holy Qurbana which marked the province level concluding of the jubilee. Fr. Joy Poonoly, our provincial superior and Fr. John Kakkatt, the parish priest, were the concelebrants for the Holy Qurbana. In his message, His Beatitude described our Mother as a person ready to help her children always. As her children we need to turn to her always.
The procession carrying the Icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help was worth mentioning. It was truly a proclamation of our faith in our Mother.
As part of the Jubilee celebrations an exhibition explaining the meaning of the Icon was conducted at Nitya Sahaya Bhavan, Chowara; St. Clement’s House, Vadavathoor and St. Mary’s Church Pala where the novena devotion to Our Mother of Perpetual Help is very popular. People in large number visited the exhibition. It really helped the people to understand the meaning of the Icon better and have deeper and meaningful devotion to our Mother of Perpetual Help.
