The Mercy Centre from Bangkok informed on their webpage about the fire that burst up on August 5 in the area where they are ministering. The fire destroyed ca. 30 slum houses. The good news is that nobody died in flames. Nevertheless, six of the kindergarten age children, being under the care of Mercy Centre, who lived in shacks with their grannies, lost everything.

The Mercy Centre school survived the neighbourhood fire and continues daily feeding the children and help the victims go through difficult situations. However, their concern is how to organize the school education when the formal classroom schooling is suspended until the end of December due to the Covid-19 emergency.

You can get more details by reading Fr. Joe’s post on the Mercy Centre webpage. There is also information on how to contribute to their charity work in the poor area of Bangkok.
