Bishop Marcos Piatek CSsR, Bishop of Coari in Amazonia, presided over the Eucharistic celebrations at the Fazenda da Esperança São Raimundo Nonato, and in the Coari Cathedral, on 25 December. “The Word became flesh and came to dwell among us” is the main message he wanted to share with the faithful of his missionary diocese, as he wrote in a short news item sent to Scala News.

The word ‘hope’, frequently repeated during the Christmas festivities, is not only part of the name of the celebration venue but also offers a solid promise to the guests of the Fazenda, which serves as an aid centre for people with drug addictions.

On the same day, Bishop Marcos Piatek presided at a solemn Mass in Coari Cathedral, concelebrated by Bishop Emeritus Gutemberg Freires Régis CSsR, and Fathers Valdivino Araújo, Josinaldo Plácido and Adeilson Vieira. After Mass, there was a procession through the streets of the city to the Church of the Child God, where the jubilee novena of the local community ended: ‘250 years of the parish: the Child God welcomed by us’.

May God bless us all!
