The Conference of Asia & Oceania held its Formation for Formators from July 7 to 12, 2025, at the Fr. Ray Foundation Center in Pattaya, Thailand. This event gathered 52 formators at all stages of formation within the Congregation’s units in Asia & Oceania.

The gathering began with the Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr. Kimy Ndelo, CSsR, the Conference Coordinator. Fr. Poly Kannampuzha CSsR, the Chairperson for the Conference Secretariat of Formation, extended a warm welcome to all the participants. The resource person for the first day was Fr. Paul Vinh CSsR, the General Consulter, who presented the overall picture of formation in the Congregation and also highlighted the important aspects of formation in the Ratio Formationis Generalis. There was also a session during the workshop by Fr. Kimi who presented the Congregation’s direction, particularly regarding the restructuring and reconfiguration of the units. This movement, grounded in mission and conversion, is expected to positively impact the formation structure of both the Conference and the Congregation as a whole.

The rest of the days of the workshop were led by Dr. Gabriel Dy-Liacco, President and Founder of the Catholic Safeguarding Institute in Philippines.  He led the discussions and workshops on a range of topics. These included generational categories and profiles, accompaniment within the context of youth culture, issues related to sexuality, and conflict management in the community.

Participants received all these topics with appreciation and enthusiasm. Dr. Dy-Liacco encouraged formators to share their joys and challenges in the ministry of formation and accompaniment. There were dedicated times for group sharing, discussions, and Q&A sessions. One of the workshop highlights was a reflection on sexuality and affectivity, expressed through the arts.

The participating units took charge of the daily liturgy along with lauds and vespers. Additionally, informal conversations and recreational activities during mealtimes and breaks enhanced the camaraderie among the participating formators. The final day, Saturday, was set aside for a group recreational outing, which included a tour of the Nongnooch Tropical Garden, Buddha Mountain and Central Plaza Mall of Pattaya.

Fr. Edward Joseph CSsR., from the Conference Council, led the participants to an evaluation of the whole workshop and thanked the management and staff of the Fr. Ray Foundation Center (Mahatai Convention Center Pattaya) and the Province of Thailand for hosting this event. He also congratulated the members of the Formation Secretariat of the Asia & Oceania Conference (Fr. Poly Kannampuzha (Chair), Fr. Marianus Dapa Talu (Secretary), Roksan Latorre, Fr. Shane Varghese and Fr. Jesus Sanito D.Umbac) for the efficient organization of the Formators’ Workshop.
