A historic moment when two General Consultors, Father Nicolas Ayouba and Father Paul Vinh, came to Furancungo after thirteen long years of missionary presence among the Chewa people, from July 28 to 30, 2025.

The Redemptorists arrived in Tete in 2012, where they began living in the district of Macanga, in the town of Furancungo, very close to the border with Malawi. Two missionaries, originally from the Province of Dublin and the Vice-Province of Fortaleza, started the mission.

This fraternal visit was part of the General Government’s visit to Mozambique, where we will have an assembly at the beginning of August. It was a very fraternal moment, during which the confreres visited our mission and spoke about the future of the Congregation in Mozambique.

They also got to know the “Sons of the Redeemer” project, held a meeting with the bishop (+Diamantino), walked around the town, and listened to the challenges of our mission—especially those related to the restructuring of the Congregation.

Over time, twelve missionaries have worked in this mission, dedicating themselves to the people of God as signs of the Kingdom and as followers of the footsteps of the Redeemer.
