Redemptorist Youth Camp 2025
“I have set you as a light for the nations, that you may bring my salvation to the ends of the earth” (Acts 13:47)
This biblical text guided the REDEMPTORIST YOUTH CAMP in our country, as a way to resume work with young people, which had been suspended for a long time for various reasons. Forty young people from various delegations, including Caracas, Valencia, Barquisimeto, Maracaibo, Falcón, and Miranda (Carabobo), participated in the camp. These are young people from our apostolates and communities who are learning about our spirituality through previous missions. Accompanied by the religious: Fr. Aly Villegas, Ordinary Councillor; Fr. Tonnis Jiménez, parish priest of the Shrine of Our Lady of Coromoto; Fr. Jhonny Vargas, National Councillor of the RYVM; Fr. Ely Saúl Millán, Vocation Promoter; and J. Dixon Álvarez, Pastoral Year.
The Brisas del Paraíso neighborhood, located in western Caracas, was the chosen location for this noble missionary work. It was five days filled with prayer, formation, recreation, missionary work, and Eucharistic celebrations. It should be emphasized that this experience is generally reserved for young people approaching missionary life, but also for those who are discovering the charism through contact with disadvantaged people. It should be noted that training young Redemptorists presents many challenges.
The topics covered were: Mission, the primary task of the Christian; mission today with modern technologies; missionary advice; and the Redemptorist mission and its experiences. According to the young people, these were enriching topics for learning and laying the foundation for missionary practice in the various environments that will arise. Two days were dedicated to missionary work, with activities focused on family visits, activities with children, youth, and adults, and the Eucharist. It is worth noting that on August 1st, we celebrated the solemnity of our father, Saint Alphonsus, in the parish named after him, together with the parish community.
The young people expressed their satisfaction and optimism for the growth of our spirituality. They are committed to sharing what they have learned in their groups and to visualizing the upcoming activities of the National RYVM. The Congregation in Venezuela continues its formation process thanks to the work of each member of our communities, from which we continue to bring abundant Redemption to every corner of our country.
Courage, young people! Always remember that we are missionaries of the Redeemer, the hope of a better world.
