On Sunday, November 16, 2025, the Vice-Province of Luanda celebrated the silver jubilee of priestly ordination of three confreres (Jerónimo Candeia Bundi, Armando Pinho Alberto, and Nelson Agostinho Ndiyelo) and the priestly ordination of Deacon Joaquim Eugénio Jacinto Lumingo (28 years old).

It was a very significant event, following the priestly ordination of five other young men in February of the same year, which leaves a strong tone of hope for the present and the future, in the Jubilee Year of Hope.

The first two jubilarian confreres (Jerónimo and Armando) did their novitiate and theological studies in the then Redemptorist province of São Paulo, Brazil, while Fr. Nelson did his novitiate and theology in the Vice-Province of Matadi, Democratic Republic of Congo. For his part, the newly ordained priest Lumingo completed his novitiate and theological studies in the VP of Madagascar (as did the five ordained in February), which is a sign of the richness of Redemptorist diversity and fraternal communion.

The dimension of ecclesial communion and fraternity was further emphasized in this celebration by the fact that Fr. Daniel Nogueira Chimbulungunju, OSB, who was ordained 25 years ago along with the three Redemptorists, joined in.

The event took place at the Redemptorist parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, in the São Luís neighborhood, on the outskirts of the city of Huambo, and was presided over by the bishop of the neighboring diocese of Kwito-Bié, Monsignor Vicente Sanombo. It was attended by confreres and Redemptorist lay associates from all communities in Angola, as well as a large number of religious women and men, priests, and many hundreds of faithful, in a celebration full of color, joy, and rhythm, as is customary in our lands. Even more so because this is a jubilee year in Angola, which celebrated the 50th anniversary of the country’s independence, on November 11th.
