The Council of the Federation of Redemptorists of Northwest Europe held its first official meeting in Bonn on October 30, 2025, since the inauguration of the Federation. The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration, shared resource management, and the challenges of the mission in a secularized Europe.

During the meeting, members reviewed the mid-term meeting held in Salzburg and discussed key issues such as guardianship, formation, and administrative transparency. A significant moment of the meeting was the visit to the grave of Father Johannes Römelt, CSsR, by the participants in recognition of his service and contribution as Coordinator of the Redemptorist Conference of Europe.

Two key decisions were made:

Financial collaboration: A meeting will be held between the bursars of the various units to strengthen transparency and the sharing of resources, convened by Father Gerry O’Connor, CSsR.

Training: A working group led by Fr. Richard Reid, CSsR, will present a joint proposal for updating the training within three months.

The meeting was governed by a framework document that defines the Federation’s key areas of cooperation: mission, training, financial management, leadership, strategic planning, communication and promotion.

The next Council meeting will be held in Dundalk, Ireland, in January 2026.
