On 16th November the Youth Day was joyfully celebrated with great enthusiasm and spiritual fervour reflecting on the life of St Gerard Majella at St. Anthony’s Church, Pandripani Parish belonging to Simdega Diocese, Jharkhand. The Redemptorists of the Bangalore Province continue to serve the faithful of the parish since 2010.
The event brought together around 160 young people from the parish, creating a vibrant atmosphere of faith, fellowship, and inspiration. The celebration aimed to encourage the youth in their spiritual growth, moral values, and active participation in the Church. This year’s theme was “Growing in Holiness with St. Gerard Majella,” highlighting the saint as a model for purity, humility, and dedication.
The program began with an uplifting opening prayer, invoking the Holy Spirit to guide the youth throughout the day. The Parish Priest, Fr. Paul Tirkey, C.Ss.R., welcomed all the participants and highlighted the importance of youth in the life of the Church. He encouraged everyone to use this day as an opportunity for deep reflection and renewal.
A special talk was delivered on the life of St. Gerard Majella by Fr. Deepak Bage, C.Ss.R. focusing on saint’s relevance for today’s youth. Key points covered included: Simplicity and Humility, Purity of Heart, Obedience and Faithfulness, Compassion and Service and Handling Struggles
The youth actively participated in interactive sessions. The program concluded with a meaningful Holy Eucharistic Celebration allowing the youth to encounter God more personally. A fellowship meal strengthened the sense of community among the participants.
Youth Day at St. Anthony’s Church was a grace-filled event that touched the hearts of all 160 participants. Through the inspiring example of St. Gerard Majella, the youth were encouraged to live with faith, purity, and dedication.
