From November 24 to 30, 2025, Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar hosts the mid-sexennial meeting of the Conference of Redemptorists of Africa and Madagascar (COREAM).
The event is attended by approximately 26 confreres, began on the morning of November 24 with the celebration of Holy Mass presided over by the Superior General, Fr. Rogério Gomes CSsR, and represents a moment of profound reflection, sharing, and fraternal communion.
In his homily, Father General encouraged everyone by asking some questions:
- What kind of Congregation do we want for the future?
- What will COREAM’s contribution be?
- What are the challenges to be faced and solved in these times?
To be able to answer these questions, he added, however, that we have one certainty:
The Redeemer is with us, in the boat! So, move forward without fear!
During the first day, we were able to organize our work for the next few days to maximize our time and share resources in brotherhood to carry out our mission in the next three years, which remain until the end of the six-year term.
Representatives of the General Government are participating in the mid-sexennium meeting: Fr. Rogério Gomes CSsR, Superior General, and Fr. Nicolas Ayouba, General Councilor; Fr. Noel Sottima, coordinator of COREAM; as well as the delegates of the COREAM Units (superiors and vocals) and the representative of the Conference’s lay faithful.
This is a particularly significant moment in the life of the Congregation in Africa and Madagascar.
This meeting is intended as a moment of grace, listening, and hope, to reaffirm our commitment to the Redemptorist mission and to serving those most in need, in a spirit of communion and sharing that is particularly evident on this continent, which suffers from the poverty of its people but sees the faith of its youngest members grow.
