From March 9th to 13th, the confreres of the Peter Donders Province held the 2026 Provincial Assembly in Santiago, Chile. We also will continue the same Assembly in April in Atyrá, Paraguay; in June in La Plata, Argentina; and in August in Resistencia, Argentina. We have adopted this format of Assemblies to encourage the participation of our confreres in these discernment process, given the size of our Province, thus reducing travel distances and costs.

In the Assembly we have worked on three themes that mark the path of our Province in the community, missionary, and economic dimension of our consecrated life:

  1. Analysis of our presence  based on the challenges we can observe from our provincial experience, and as indicated in the Report of the Fraternal Visit of the General Government: small and fragmented communities, pastoral overload of the confreres, need to assume our Missionary Priorities, little availability for missionary places that challenge us, small number of members available for the current commitments of the Province.
  2. Socialization of the Provincial Apostolic Plan prepared by the Secretariat of Evangelization of the Province: missionary and apostolic priorities, new missionary challenges, integration of schools and colleges in missionary action, Apostolic planning, Community planning, shared mission with the Redemptoristine Sisters.
  3. Challenges of the Provincial Economy: economy and sustainability, economy and transparency, possibilities of better managing the resources we have, common mode of administration of assets, local modes to be learned from the different traditions of the old units, care of the assets of the Province.

We have worked intensively on these dimensions and challenges of our provincial life, but always in a fraternal and cordial environment, with privileged places for sharing and prayer.

Fr. Javier Machado, CSsR.
