On 5th August 2026, the Redemptorists of the Mission in Kenya celebrated the Perpetual Profession of five of our brothers in the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer. It was a day filled with profound joy, gratitude, and thanksgiving to God. The newly professed confreres are: Bro. Phabian Onyango, C.Ss.R., Bro. Lucas Muli, C.Ss.R., Bro. Vincent Omanga, C.Ss.R., Bro. Cornelius Gwaoo, C.Ss.R., and Bro. Sebastian Muteti, C.Ss.R. By making their perpetual vows, these brothers freely and joyfully committed themselves to living the evangelical counsels of chastity, poverty, and obedience, together with the Oath and the Vow of Perseverance, in the service of Christ the Redeemer and His Church for life.
The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by our Provincial Superior, Fr. Edward Raju, C.Ss.R., and concelebrated by the Mission Superior of Kenya, Fr. Titus Mutiku, C.Ss.R., together with many Redemptorists, visiting priests, religious, family members, friends, and the faithful who gathered to witness this significant milestone in the lives of our brothers.
In his homily, Fr. Edward Raju congratulated the brothers for taking this important step of saying “Yes” to God forever. He encouraged them to remain faithful to the vows they had professed, especially amid the challenges of the modern world.
He reminded them that their vocation is rooted in a deep love for Christ the Redeemer and a wholehearted commitment to His mission of proclaiming the Gospel, particularly to the poor and the most abandoned. He further emphasized that the perpetual profession of these brothers is not only a gift to the Redemptorist family but also a precious gift to the entire Church.
May Our Mother of Perpetual Help accompany them with her powerful intercession, and may St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori, our Holy Father and Founder, continue to inspire them to bring about plentiful redemption.
