On September 27th, the 112th World Day of Migrants and Refugees takes place. For this reason, the Redemptorist community in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, which accompanies the journey of our migrant sisters and brothers, sends fraternal greetings to the Province of Mexico, asking for the intercession of Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos to continue
carrying out our missionary work in solidarity with the most abandoned.
The annual World Day of Migrants and Refugees is a constant reminder of one of the world’s historical realities, calling for our solidarity and compassion. Pope Leo XIV’s message for this day bears the motto: “Even with one of these little ones,” reminding us that every human being possesses infinite dignity.
At the beginning of 2023, we, as Redemptorists, took on the responsibility of accompanying migrants in the Diocese of Matamoros-Reynosa. In April 2026, we inaugurated the Redemptorist center “Oasis Francisco Xavier Seelos,” where we offer legal guidance, medical assistance, and pastoral-spiritual support. From this center, we wish to continue accompanying those facing the
challenges of migration, hoping to be a place of rest along the way for all those who have left their families or who have been forced to leave their homeland.
The reality of migration is constantly changing. The lack of dignified migration policies worldwide makes our migrant brothers and sisters increasingly vulnerable. What is our response as a Church?
We invite each of our communities to: continue raising awareness about this reality, join in prayer with the Church for all those who have left their homes in search of a promised land, and continue collaborating as Redemptorist communities with the Oasis project, where the face of God becomes a migrant.
May each of our Redemptorist saints and blesseds, and especially Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos, continue to intercede for our missionary work.
