To mark September 23, the International Day against Sexual Exploitation and Trafficking in Persons, Oblates of the Province of Europe shares a first look at the data corresponding to the work carried out during 2025 with women in situations of prostitution and trafficking for sexual exploitation.
The figures provide insight into the scale of this reality and, at the same time, highlight the work of listening and support carried out by the various projects in the Province. During 2025, 7,142 women in situations of prostitution, potential trafficking, or confirmed trafficking received support.
A fundamental part of this work involves engaging with women in prostitution settings, maintaining a close presence that allows us to understand their realities, listen to them, offer information and guidance, and facilitate access to various resources. Through this work, 4,070 women received support last year.
In addition, support was provided at the Comprehensive Care Centers, where 2,989 women received assistance. These are spaces where each woman can find support and tailored responses to help her progress in her own process, from a perspective that prioritizes autonomy, rights, and opportunities.
Residential resources are another response offered by the Oblates of the Province of Europe. During 2025, 83 women were accommodated in these resources, receiving support tailored to their individual needs and life circumstances.
27% more potential trafficking victims assisted
Among the first data available, the evolution of potential trafficking situations stands out. In 2025, there was a 27% increase in the number of potential trafficking victims assisted compared to 2024. This data suggests that we must continue to monitor the changes occurring in this reality and adapt our responses and support processes accordingly.
Beyond the statistics, Oblates’ perspective stems from recognizing each woman as the protagonist of her own journey, with her own history, abilities, decisions, and life project. Being close, listening and supporting, generating alternatives, and promoting the exercise of rights remain fundamental elements of this presence.

This data constitutes a first advance of the Prostitution and Trafficking Report for 2025, prepared from the work of the projects of Oblates of the Province Europe.
The full report will be presented soon, which will allow for a deeper understanding of the reality of the women supported, the situations detected, and the different responses developed during the year.
