(Tuchow, Poland) The Church needs new workers – new missionaries. It is no longer enough to preach; one must be a witness in sending Christ to the world – said Archbishop Wacław Depo in Tuchów. The Metropolitan of Częstochowa ordained four Redemptorist deacons: Aleksander Ćwik, Paweł Głodowicz, Tomasz Marcinek and Piotr Mazur.
The ordination took place on May 23rd, the Solemnity of Pentecost, in the square at the Basilica of Our Lady of Tuchów. Present were the relatives and friends of our newly ordained confreres, Redemptorist confreres, diocesan priests and parishioners. The atmosphere was very family-like.
The newly ordained Redemptorists thanked their parents and formators for the education they received. They thanked God and the archbishop for the sacrament of priesthood. Noteworthy were the gifts that they presented to their mothers. These were manutergia, linen cloths with which the new priests used to wipe their hands after being anointed with the sacred oil. This memento will remind the parents of their own sons, whom they gave to God as a gift.
The new priests will soon begin their ministry of proclaiming the Abundant Redemption and sanctifying themselves and others through celebrating Sacraments and living a Christian life. Their first missionary assingments will be parishes in Poland: in Głogów, Toruń, Wrocław and Elbląg.
Please, keep in prayers the newly ordained Redemptorists that they will be zealous and holy missionaries. Let us also pray for the gift of new vocations to the ministry in the Church and our Congregation.
