Redemptorist Media Center, Bangalore is hosting an Online Promotional Screening of the Feature documentary film, “Who is my neighbour?” (75 minutes) directed by Fr. Charles Vijay Kumar, C.Ss.R. While there has been so much news and discussion about the problem of migration and refugees worldwide, often the issue is distorted and marred by political, cultural and economic interests. This film explores a Christian response to the problem of migrants and refugees giving voice to multiple sides of the discussion. “Who is my neighbour?” is a montage of real stories of people affected by the Global migration and refugee crisis. These are stories from across the globe, filmed in over twenty cities/towns across nine countries such as the U.S., Mexico, Brazil, Italy, France, Philippines, South Africa, Mozambique and Russia, spread over five continents. A good number of Redemptorist have shared their stories and insights including Superior General, Fr. Michael Brehl, C.Ss.R. (Rome), Cardinal William Joseph Tobin, C.Ss.R. (Newark, US), Fr. Mike McAndrew C.Ss.R. (Denver, US), Fr. Luigi Ramazzatti, C.Ss.R. (Venice, Italy) and many others. As many of the Provinces have recognized ministry to the migrants and refugees as one of their Apostolic Priorities, this film helps to grasp the global picture of the issue through individual stories.
The film premieres on Redemptorist Media Center YouTube Channel (YouTube.com/rmcbangalore) on Friday, 16th July 2021, at 8:00 PM (IST – India Standard Time) and will be available for free viewing till 7:00 PM on Sunday, 18th July 2021.
