Brother André Luiz, a Redemptorist missionary, has written this book, seeking to present the contributions of Saint Alphonsus de Liguori (1696-1787) to Marian theology. The work “Saint Alphonsus and the Immaculate Conception” recalls the participation of Saint Alphonsus in the reflections that led to the proclamation of the Marian dogma of the Immaculate Conception by Pope Pius IX in 1854. This book also helps us understand the importance of Marian theology, presenting a brief history of the development of the four Marian dogmas.

Br. André Luiz, C.Ss.R. is the Director of the Redemptorist Spirituality Centre of the Province of Sao Paulo in Brazil.
His book “Saint Alphonsus and the Immaculate Conception”, written in Portuguese, has been published by Editora Santuário in Aparecida, Brazil.
