Fr. Rogério Gomes, Superior General, accompanied by the members of the General Council and Fr. Gerardo Hernández, President of the Secretariat of Formation of the Congregation, shared a message of motivation with the postulants and pre-novices of the Conference of Latin America and the Caribbean. The online meeting, held last Sunday, February 25, was the second one of the meetings with the Formadee of every Conference, scheduled within the next months.
The meeting began with a moment of prayer led by the postulants and pre-novices of Quito – Caracas and Bogota units. Then the participants had the opportunity to watch and listen to a video prepared by the General Consultors showing the reality of the Congregation in the world, divided into five Conferences.
As the central point of the meeting, Fr. Rogério Gomes, spoke to those present, young people in formation and formators. He emphasized the invitation: to know and deepen Redemptorist life and its missionary dimension, to be experts in humanity, to cultivate Redemptorist spirituality and to integrate it into one’s own life, to live the spirit of fraternity in the community, to dedicate themselves to their academic life in a unique way by assuming the critical capacity proper to philosophical studies, to discover the importance of missionary pastoral work, to be close to the people who need them and to be passionate about the Redemptorist charism to give an account of their vocation.
The meeting was attended by a large number of young people and formators from the units of Central America, Bogotá, Caracas, Quito, Peru, Bolivia, Buenos Aires, Resistencia, Paraguay, Chile and the units of Brazil: Manaus, Porto Alegre, Campo Grande, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Bahia, Recife, Fortaleza and Goias. We appreciate the effort of all to participate in this meeting and also for the presence of the General Government encouraging the young people in formation, soon this space will be held with the novices and juniors of the Conference of Latin America and the Caribbean and then with the other conferences of the Congregation.
