With the theme: “Dear parents, you too belong to the Redemptorist Family,” the Redemptorists of Sri Lanka organized a parents’ gathering at Serene Pastures, Negombo, from 23 to 24 April 2024.

It was a grace-filled program for the parents of the perpetually professed brothers who gathered and spent time praying, sharing and singing. Father Chandana Perera, the Regional Superior, addressed the parents on the second day, encouraging them to have hope and look for different ways to be productive by having goals in their lives.

The parents and some confreres arrived at the retreat house for lunch. After that, Fr. Kelum Fernando, the regional vicar, welcomed the parents, and everyone prayed the rosary for all the confreres, their parents, and the vocations. The evening was filled with exciting activities such as fireworks, singing, and games.

On the second day, everyone gathered for morning prayer and meditation led by Father Chandana. At the end of a short meeting with the parents, they were given a souvenir cup by Fr. Chandana, with the theme of the program printed on it.

Fr. Morris and Fr. Amila were responsible for organizing such a beautiful program, in which parents actively participated and enjoyed. After much laughter and sharing memories of their children, the meeting ended with the Eucharist, followed by lunch. The parents enjoyed the day and are excited to organize another event with some additional activities in the coming years.
