Be a Woman of Passionate Love – Sr. Nilima Malya, OSSR of the Holy Will of God

On Saturday 16th November 2024, our novice Nilima confirmed her ‘Yes’ to God’s call of Love through the rite of First Profession, thus becoming a Redemptoristine Nun and the newest professed member of our Monastic Community at St. Alphonsus Monastery in Drumcondra in Dublin, Ireland.

It was a joyous occasion, attended by her family, who travelled all the way from Mumbai, India, some of our community friends, our brother Redemptorists and Religious from different Congregations. Sr. Nilima Malya, OSSR, hails from the village of Uttan on the west coast of India near the city of Mumbai.

Fr. Brendan O’Rourke C.Ss.R., Provincial of the Dublin Province of the Redemptorists, reminded her and each one of us at the beginning that in simple terms that the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience that she was about to profess are vows of service, of loving, and of listening.

Fr. Ivel Mendanha C.Ss.R, Consultor General from Rome added to this in his homily as he urged Sr. Nilima to be a woman of passion for God and His people. A woman of passionate love for God and her community and brothers and sisters throughout the world, generous service in community, in prayer, especially for the most abandoned, as well as the devoted and deep listening to God in Scripture, in daily life, in the community and the Prioress.

Sr. Nilima professed her vows before Sr. Gabrielle Fox, OSSR, the Prioress of the Monastery who accepted her vows and gave her a warm embrace and welcome. The Community celebrated the service with sacred music and then a joyful festive lunch. We thank God for the gift of our newest Sister, Sr Nilima Malya of the Holy Will of God, and pray especially for her that she may deepen her ‘yes’, every day of her life in God.

The Redemptoristine community now has 5 sisters from Ireland, 2 from Germany, 3 from the USA, 1 from England and Scotland each, and 2 from India with one novice from India. Shortly there will be two more postulants arriving from India who will commence their journey into the way of life of the Order of the Most Holy Redeemer.
