“Sowing Seeds of Hope”

The Northern Luzon Mission Community in Laoag City hosted the highly anticipated Redemptorist Youth Ministry (RYM) Philippines national meeting from February 24-27, 2025. This gathering brought together youth leaders from various Apostolic Units within the Redemptorist Province of Cebu and the Vice-Province of Manila.

The event commenced with a special Mass at the Mater Domini Apostolic Center, presided over by Rev. Fr. Raymond Urizza, CSsR, Superior of the Redemptorist Vice-Province of Manila. In his inspiring homily, Fr. Urizza urged the youth to become “heralds of truth,” “apostles of reconciliation,” and “missionaries of courageous hope” in today’s challenging world.

Inspired by the Redemptorist charism, the recollection session on the second day empowered young people to actively participate in the Church’s mission. The RYM Philippines aims to develop a generation of socially conscious and spiritually involved young people by fostering a strong commitment to Christian service.

On the third day, the meeting focused on sharing successful youth-led programs and initiatives. Each Apostolic Unit presented their community outreach activities, highlighting the impact of their work in supporting vulnerable groups. These activities centered on living a Christ-centered life, emphasizing the Redemptorist mission of proclaiming the Good News to the poor and marginalized.

The meeting’s primary focus was common RYM activities that unite youth in faith, service, and community. These shared activities are crucial to the Redemptorist Youth Ministry’s objective of raising a generation of young Catholics firmly rooted in their faith and committed to serving others. Through events like the Alphonsian Youth Pilgrimage, National Youth Day, and Alphonsian Youth Mission Day, RYM members can grow spiritually, acquire leadership skills, and make a meaningful difference in their communities.

The discussions during the national meeting reaffirmed that these activities are powerful tools for building a strong, united youth movement that can transform society. The commitment to these shared events testifies to the strength of the RYM community and its desire to live out the values of St. Alphonsus in today’s world.

As the meeting concluded, RYM Philippines reaffirmed its dedication to the mission of service and faith. With plans to enhance and expand key activities, the ministry is motivated to continue inspiring and empowering youth across the country. United by a shared commitment to faith, service, and unity, the Redemptorist Youth Ministry Philippines is ready to build a brighter future for the nation’s youth.
