“God has begun a good work in you, dear Łukasz: He looked at you with love, called you and chose you, and with your ordination He sends you to be His witness in a world that so often wants to live as if God did not exist,” said the Metropolitan Archbishop of Krakow, Most Rev. Marek Jędraszewski, during the ordination of Father Łukasz Malinowski CSsR, which took place in the Shrine of Perpetual Help in Krakow on Sunday, June 1, 2025.
Joy fills the hearts of the new priest, his family and the Polish Redemptorists: after years of formation at the Redemptorist Theological Seminary in Tuchow and now in Krakow, Fr. Lukasz Malinowski CSsR has been ordained a priest.
Archbishop Marek Jędraszewski, in his homily, emphasized, among other things, that the bishop’s question: “Do you want to unite yourself ever more closely with Christ the High Priest, who offered himself to the Father for us as an immaculate sacrifice, and do you want to consecrate yourself together with Him to God for the salvation of men?” is not a simple “I want”, but expresses the hope that in this sacrificial and saving service the candidate for ordination will be supported by God himself. Therefore, the answer will be: “I want, with the help of God.”
“By offering Christ to the Father in an unbloody way when you celebrate Holy Mass, you will have to offer yourself every time, for the salvation of the brothers entrusted to your pastoral care,” said the Metropolitan of Krakow, addressing the deacon.
The superior of the Warsaw Province of the Redemptorists, Father Dariusz Paszyński CSsR, addressing Father Łukasz, wished him to “stand on earth, look to heaven and be a witness to the unshakable hope that is certain.” He also thanked Archbishop Marek Jędraszewski for ordaining Deacon Łukasz to the priesthood and for highlighting the close connection between the sacrament of the priesthood and the Eucharist, which is “the school of life” and which “teaches how to offer life.” He also thanked his formators at the seminary, his family, and his home parish.
“Thank you for the courage to accept your vocation in this world that often looks the other way. I wish you to always be free, generous, and courageous in your ministry and that, being a pilgrim of hope, you will be a missionary of hope for all those for whom you will exercise your ministry throughout your life.”
Newly ordained priest Father Łukasz will take up his first pastoral assignment in the Redemptorist parish in Elbląg, in northern Poland.
