With deep sorrow, we share the news of the passing of Mr. Olimpio Gomes, father of our Superior General, Fr. Rogério Gomes, C.Ss.R., who was called to the Father’s House on the night of August 20, 2025.
The funeral will be celebrated on August 21 in Alterosa, Minas Gerais (Brazil).
Mr. Olimpio was a man of simple yet profound faith, whose life and Christian witness marked in a special way the vocational journey of his son, our Father General. His example of silent dedication, constant prayer, and love for the Gospel was a fruitful seed that bore fruit in the consecration of Fr. Rogério to the service of the Kingdom.
We unite in prayer to give thanks to God for the life of Mr. Olimpio, asking the Lord to welcome him into the fullness of His Kingdom, and to grant comfort, strength, and peace to Fr. Rogério, to his mother, Mrs. Maria Gomes, to his brother, Ronaldo José Gomes, to his nieces, and to the entire family.
In the witness of Mr. Olimpio, we recognize a humble and generous faith that continues to bear fruit in his family and in all who knew him. His memory remains as a gentle light that encourages us to live with trust in the Lord and with hope in the Resurrection.
