On Sunday evening, 7 September, the Annual Novena Procession marked the grand finale of Novena Church’s 75th Anniversary celebrations. It was the largest Redemptorist gathering ever held at the church, with 95 Redemptorist priests and brothers participating in the procession. They were joined by other religious communities and countless faithful, all united in a powerful display of prayer and devotion to Our Mother of Perpetual Help.
The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr. Rogério Gomes, C.Ss.R., Superior General of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, together with his brother priests. In his homily, he invited all present to recall God’s faithfulness over the past seventy-five years, to rejoice in the blessings received through the intercession of Our Mother of Perpetual Help, and to renew their commitment to the mission of the Redeemer. Drawing from Scripture, he reminded the congregation that God often chooses what is small and humble to reveal His greatness-just as the Novena, which began so modestly in Singapore, has grown to touch millions of lives.
Fr. Rogério also spoke of the countless people who have come to Novena Church with heavy burdens such as broken families, illness, and struggles of faith, and who found peace, healing, and courage through prayer. He emphasized that this jubilee is not only a time of remembrance but also a call to renewal, to carry the mission forward with courage, creativity, and hope, especially for the poor and the most abandoned.
As candles were lifted high and hymns to Our Mother of Perpetual Help filled the night, the procession became a living testament of faith and devotion, a heartfelt celebration of gratitude for the past and hope for the future.
