As part of the 75th Anniversary celebration of Novena Church, the REDS Concert on the evening of 6 September was a joyful gathering for all. It highlighted the power of music to unite hearts and cultures.
Performers included Redemptorists from across Asia, with Singapore as the host country, along with India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. Each brought their own unique fabric of style, language, and heritage, creating a harmonious symphony of sound and spirit. The audience was treated to a vibrant mix of songs that beautifully reflected both cultural diversity and shared faith.
The concert was more than an evening jazz of entertainment; it was a testimony of unity. Through music, the Redemptorists reminded everyone present that faith transcends borders and differences, weaving people together into one community.
Ms. Portia Sylvia, a member of FLARE (Filipino Lay Redemptorists) based in Cebu, Philippines, noted that “…the Reds Concert highlighted the relationship that makes us one missionary family.” She added, “Events like this positively spark missionary inspiration and spirit among us — both the professed and the lay partners in mission.”
The highlight of the night came in the finale. All Redemptorists sang the well-loved song “We Are the World,” from the Sanctuary. As their voices blended into one, flags from the diverse represented nations were raised in the background. It was a powerful moment of solidarity, hope, and a testament to the universal mission of the Church.
The REDS Concert concluded with heartfelt applause and joy, leaving the community with a deep sense of unity. It was truly an evening that embodied the anniversary theme of gratitude for the past and hope for the future, expressed in harmony across nations.
