Last Tuesday, September 2nd, a large package of humanitarian aid, mostly food, left Pamplona for Ukraine. This is another shipment organized by the Redemptorist NGO “Acoger y Compartir” and the Parish of the Most Holy Redeemer in Madrid, in collaboration with other organizations, which has been carried out since the beginning of the war in Ukraine.
The shipment included essential goods, such as food, clothing, and hygiene products. These items were carefully selected to meet the immediate needs of the Ukrainian population, many of whom have been displaced or directly affected by the conflict.
The Parish of the Most Holy Redeemer in Madrid has played a crucial role in organizing this aid. It maintains constant contact with Father Andrey, a Ukrainian Redemptorist, who serves as liaison with Ukraine, to determine the most needed supplies. Several NGOs, including “Acoger y Compartir” and “Ayuda Contenedores,” have collaborated on this initiative. These organizations are helping to subsidize transportation costs and providing logistical support.
Thanks to collaboration with other organizations and benefactors, the Redemptorist parish of Madrid has sent more than 20 shipments of humanitarian aid over the past three years. This, as the parish priest, Father José Miguel de Haro CSsR, emphasizes, is a concrete sign of solidarity with those suffering because of the ongoing war.
The aid arriving in Ukraine from several European countries is, first and foremost, a message of hope for the people who have lost everything due to the war, says Nadiya Sohor, vice president of the Europe with Ukraine association, which coordinates several humanitarian aid initiatives.
