On Sunday, 14 December 2025, the parish community of the Catholic Church of Agadez joyfully celebrated its Rosewood Jubilee, marking 65 years of existence of St Augustine Parish, Agadez.
The celebration took place at the Catholic Church of Agadez and began at 9:00 a.m. with a solemn Mass of Thanksgiving, presided over by His Lordship, Monsignor Ignatius Kanmurum Anipu, M.Afr., Bishop of the Diocese of Maradi. The jubilee celebration was further enriched by the fraternal participation of the confrères from the Diocese of Niamey, alongside priests, religious, and a large gathering of the faithful.
The highlights of the celebration included: the jubilee thanksgiving Mass, the installation of the new parish priest, the dedication of the new parish church, and a fraternal reception that fostered communion and fellowship.
This historic jubilee was a moment of profound gratitude to God for His blessings over 65 years of pastoral life, as well as a renewed commitment to continue the mission of the Church in faith, hope, and service. The celebration marked both the 65th anniversary of the parish and the 65 years of the Redemptorist presence in Agadez.
Let us remember that the Redemptorists arrived in Agadez in 1960, and since then they have been working for the growth of the Kingdom of God in this part of Niger, with particular attention to the poor, among whom are migrants and nationals from countries bordering Niger.
We thank God for 65 years of faith, service, and Christian witness of the people of St. Augustine Parish, Agadez, in the Vice Province of West Africa.
