On March 26 at 2:00 p.m., Rome time, the entire Congregation was invited, through the Zoom platform, to gather as one family. The purpose was to share, reflect, and be enlightened on our missionary journey, especially in this year dedicated to leadership in service of the mission across the Congregation. It was truly a meaningful and grace-filled moment. Around 200 participants, including confreres, religious sisters of Redemptorist family, and lay associates—connected online from different parts of the world. Despite the geographical distance, we experienced a deep sense of unity, being truly one in spirit and mission.

The program began with a warm greeting from the Superior General, Fr. Rogério Gomes. In his opening words, he clearly articulated the purpose of this gathering: to reflect together on leadership as a vital dimension of our missionary identity today. This was followed by remarks from the moderator, Fr. Gerardo Hernández Carrasquillo, C.Ss.R., who guided the flow of the session. After a brief but meaningful moment of prayer, we were introduced to our guest speaker, Fr. José Cristo Rey García Paredes, CMF.

Fr. José is a Claretian priest and widely recognized as one of the most respected theologians in the field of consecrated life. He addressed the theme: “Toward Visionary, Regenerative, and Synodal Leadership: Accomplices of the Spirit.” He began his reflection by helping us understand why this year has been dedicated to leadership in the service of the mission. He situated this within the broader context of the discernment and election of new major superiors and their councils. He emphasized that the fundamental goal is to choose leaders who embody and reflect the style of Jesus—leaders who serve with humility, vision, and deep faith.

Fr. José then explored the broader context in which this theme emerges. He pointed to the social and ecclesial crises that challenge us today, inviting us not to lose hope but to see these realities as opportunities for renewal. In this light, he highlighted St. Clement as a powerful model of evangelical courage and creative fidelity—someone who responded to the needs of his time with boldness and trust in the Spirit.

Moving further, he presented four key models of leadership that are especially relevant for our mission today. First, discerning leadership, which calls leaders to listen attentively—to God, to the community, and to the signs of the times—before making decisions. Second, visionary leadership, which inspires others by offering a clear and hope-filled direction for the future, rooted in faith and mission. Third, generative leadership, which focuses on fostering life, growth, and collaboration within the community, empowering others to contribute their gifts. And finally, reconciling leadership, which seeks to heal divisions, build unity, and promote communion, especially in times of tension or conflict.

Through these reflections Fr. García Paredes guided us into a deeper understanding of our vocation, our communal life, and our shared mission. His words were both challenging and encouraging, inviting us to open ourselves more fully to the action of the Spirit. Following the presentation, the session moved into a time of dialogue. Participants were given the opportunity to ask questions, seek clarifications, and share their insights. This exchange enriched the experience, allowing the themes presented to be explored more deeply and applied to real-life situations.

Finally, the webinar concluded with closing remarks from the Superior General. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated and emphasized the importance of continuing this journey of reflection and renewal together as a Congregation.

As we bring this reflection to a close, we entrust ourselves to the Lord, praying that He may guide us and strengthen us. May we truly live out what we have received in this gathering, becoming leaders who are visionary, regenerative, and synodal, true partners with the Spirit in our mission.
