St. Michael’s Church in Burigora belonging to Bangalore Province, one of the vibrant parishes of the Diocese of Jamshedpur, witnessed a memorable and spiritually enriching celebration on 12th of April, marking the 300th birth anniversary of St. Gerard Majella. The event, held on Divine Mercy Sunday, became a meaningful occasion to deepen devotion and reflect on the life of this beloved youthful saint.

Following the Eucharistic celebration, the parishioners were invited to experience a unique presentation—a dramatized portrayal of the life of St. Gerard Majella. This initiative, led by Fr. Ranjit Minj, CSsR, brought together the enthusiastic efforts of the Kalunga youth, who travelled to Burigora with dedication and zeal to make the event possible.

The skit vividly brought to life the inspiring journey of St. Gerard, a young man who remained steadfast in his faith despite numerous trials and misunderstandings. Through powerful scenes and heartfelt performances, the youth portrayed his deep trust in God, his humility, and his unwavering commitment to serving others with joy. The simplicity and sincerity of the presentation resonated deeply with the audience.

The performance was not merely theatrical—it was a moment of encounter and reflection. Many parishioners found themselves moved by the message of hope, perseverance, and holiness that St. Gerard’s life continues to offer. The dramatization served as an apt and creative way to spread devotion to the saint, especially among the younger generation.

This celebration stands as a testimony to the power of youth involvement in the life of the Church and the importance of keeping the stories of the saints alive in meaningful ways. The efforts of the Kalunga youth, guided by Fr. Ranjit Minj, made this tricentennial celebration both memorable and spiritually uplifting for the faithful of Burigora.
