The first meeting in the history of the Warsaw Province of the Oblates of the Redemptorist Order was held in Tuchów from May 1 to 3, 2026. Thirty of the seventy currently living Oblates, who collaborate in the mission of the Redemptorists of the Warsaw Province, took part. They came from all over Poland to get to know each other, strengthen unity, and kindle enthusiasm for further collaboration between lay people and religious.
The program included common prayer, formation—particularly on the spirituality of the Redemptorist Oblate and the person and spirituality of Saint Gerard Majella—as well as moments of integration and information sharing. We also visited the Church of Saint Gerard in Lubaszowa and the local Redemptorist religious house and novitiate. At the Shrine of Our Lady of Tuchów, we participated in the May devotions and the rosary, especially on the first Saturday of the month.
At the same time as the meeting, the Rosary Work for the Support of Redemptorist Vocations conducted a retreat, and throughout the day, especially during times of prayer, the two groups were spiritually united.
The Oblates, who came from various cities: Elbląg, Gliwice, Głogów, Kraków, Nowy Sącz (Łomnica-Zdrój), Szczecinek, Toruń, Warsaw, Wrocław, and Tuchów, unanimously emphasized the importance of this meeting for themselves personally and for the Redemptorist religious communities to which they are affiliated. We hope that more will be held in the future.
The title of Oblate of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer is conferred by the Superior General of the Redemptorist Congregation at the request of a specific Redemptorist community and the Provincial Council. Oblates, by special prayer by their confreres are included as spiritual assets in the Congregation acquired through prayer and apostolic works. For their part, the Oblates collaborate spiritually and in apostolic works in various ways with the Redemptorists, especially with “their” local community of Fathers and Brothers, also praying for vocations to the Redemptorist Congregation.
Currently, the group of Oblates in the Redemptorist Province of Warsaw numbers more than seventy people, mostly lay people, but among them there are also three bishops and some priests, including a religious from another order.
The meeting was organized by the Provincial Council and the Secretariat for Missionary Collaboration.
