A meeting of Redemptorist formators from the European Conference was held in Madrid from May 25 to 29. The meeting was organized by the Secretariat for Formation of the European Conference. Participants included formators from the European units, as well as Father Paul Vinh, General Consultor of the Congregation, and Father Piotr Chyła, coordinator of the European Conference of Redemptorists.
The meeting was an important opportunity for shared reflection on the current situation of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer and the challenges related, in particular, to initial formation. Participants had the opportunity to get to know each other better, exchange experiences, and present the reality of formation work in their respective countries and communities. Discussions also focused on the future and the search for new joint initiatives for the development of formation in Europe.
An important element of the gathering was daily common prayer. The liturgy and prayer, celebrated in different languages, highlighted the international character of the gathering, creating an atmosphere of unity, solidarity, and fraternal communion.
The meeting also welcomed a special guest, Father Amadeo Cencini, who gave a lecture entitled: “New Perspectives on Evangelization for Consecrated Life in the Church and in a Synodal-Intercultural Context: From the Perspective of Formation.” The lecture inspired a more in-depth discussion, an exchange of reflections, and questions on the contemporary challenges facing consecrated life and the formation of young Redemptorists.
The Madrid meeting confirmed the importance of cooperation among European Redemptorist units and the shared search for ways to respond to the needs of the Church today and its evangelizing mission. Participants left Madrid with a renewed commitment to their ministry and a shared vision of the path ahead.
